Centro Vinoteca is a trendy restaurant right in the heart of the West Village.
The restaurant, which opened three year ago, occupies two floors of a triangular building where Seventh Avenues meets Barrow.
It's perfect for a delicious glass of wine and if you're so inclined, stay for a meal.
The restaurant is known for their small dishes (piccolini) and are perfect for those moments you are starving and don't want to devour bread.
Choices include zucchini & parmigiano fritters with spicy tomato sauce ($5) or the BLT made with pancetta, frisee & tomato confit crostin ($5).
For a particularly good deal, be an early bird and get the pre-theater dinner. For only $25 pick an antipasti: soup of the day, mussels, bocconcini, bitter green salad, a main dish: pici pasta, fish of the day, wild mushroom pappardelle, or roasted organic chicken and finally a delicious dessert.
The pasta choices look particularly good. Try the whole-wheat pappardelle with wild mushrooms, parmesan & white truffle oil ($15) or the pici pasta with sweet & spicy sausage ragu ($14).
Another good deal is on Mondays when all bottles of wine are 50 percent off.
The brunch menu has something for everyone. Choices range from eggs any style with home fries & bacon ($11) to an organic burger made with fontina, zucchini pickles & sweet potato chips ($12). For those who want something on the sweet side, try the French toast made with mascarpone-pumpkin gelato & mapleland farm syrup ($11) or the nutella crepes made with toasted pistachios & bananas ($11).
Meat choices are limited. Entrées include the grilled black angus rib eye balsamic roasted cipolline onions & fresno peppers ($32) and the house cured pork chop with savoy cabbage, pine nuts, currants & mutsu apple butter ($25).
If dessert is your favorite part of the meal, then try the delicious plum dessert ($8). Other choices include a tiramisu with mascarpone creme, chocolate caramel mouse bomb with raspberry sauce, homemade gelato or sorbet and a selection of cheeses (3 for $12 or 5 for $15).
